Technical reference for wallet pass push notifications.

Overview​

Push notifications deliver Coupons and Push Promotions directly to Customers' wallet passes.

How They Work​

  1. A Coupon or Push Promotion is published in the system
  2. Update sent to wallet provider (Apple/Google)
  3. Wallet provider pushes to Customer devices
  4. The Customer sees notification on lock screen

Notification Types​

  • New Coupons published
  • Push Promotions (push messages without a redemption)
  • Card tier upgrades
  • Card status changes
  • Pass updates

Best Practices​

  • Send notifications 2-4 hours before events
  • Keep messages concise (60 characters)
  • Limit frequency (2-3 per week maximum)
  • Test notifications before major campaigns
